Guava Senior Home and Healthcare Services would like to welcome a new member to our team Colleen O'Brien MSN, RN, WOCN with over 20 years as an Advanced Practice Nurse. She is a Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse Specialist. She has experience as a Nutrition Support Clinical Nurse Specialist, Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Specialist. Her undergraduate Nursing Degree is from Widener University and Masters in Nursing from University of Pennsylvania.
The Guava Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) directs the work of the Guava Care Team nursing assistants; administers medication, injections, and routine treatments; assists in the evaluation of resident's care; accepts doctor's order and notifies the Guava Care Team and family of any significant changes.
The Guava Registered Nurse (RN) assesses the condition and care of clients to determine if there is a need to contact the consulting physician; instructs LPN's and Nurse Aides in the proper care of clients; administers prescribed medications orally and by injection; provides treatments using therapeutic equipment; takes temperatures, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure and heart beat to detect deviations from normal.
The Guava RN also prepares care plans, assessments, pharmacy audits, medication review, reviews physician's orders, updating physician visits; coordinates care of clients, monitors documentation's, ensures enforcement's of rules and regulations, including staff and requirements; performs emergency treatments.
