Q: Why should I choose Guava Homecare for my loved one:

A:  We at Guava Homecare are here to meet and accommodate your flexible needs. As your schedule changes and your needs change, we are here for you for as little as 2 hours a day to 24 hours 7 days a week. We design a customized careplan that specifically is tailored to making your life easier. We provide as few as 2 hours a day to 24 hours 7 days a week. Q:  Should I hire someone out of the newspaper or use a homecare agency - what is the difference in providing care in my home?

A:  The difference is significant! When a caregiver is placed in your home from Guava Homecare, they are thoroughly screened through an interview process, criminal background check is conducted, drug screening, reference checks and the State of Delaware requires all new hires are cleared through the Delaware Health and Social Services Adult Abuse Registry. All caregivers also attend extensive training program.

One big difference is that your Homeowners Insurance Policy generally does not cover anyone that is working in your home. If you were to hire someone out of the newspaper and they were injuried while working for you - then you are personally responsible for all the medical treatment and care. This has become a growing issue and families need to be aware of this and protect themselves.

All Guava Homecare employee's are insured and bonded if anything happens in your home caregivers are covered through the agency.

Q:  If I want to get started what are the first steps?

A: You can call us 24 hours a day 7 days a week at 1-888-GUA-VA24. We can talk about the best services to fit you or your loved ones needs. We offer an array of services for as little as 2 hours a day to 24 hour support.

After you have made the initial phone call we talk about your neeeds, set up an initial assessment in your home and develop a customized care plan.

We match a caregiver to your needs and personality and get started within a 24 hour period.

Q: Do I pay the caregiver or does your agency pay the caregiver?

A:  Guava Homecare will take care of all the payroll, taxes and scheduling for all the caregivers. Allowing you time to focus on the needs of your loved one

Q:  Are the services offered through Guava Homecare able to accommodate the needs of my loved ones?

A: Yes, we provide care for your loved ones with a disability, cancer patients, recovering from heart surgery, infant care, mothers who require additional help, short term care, just getting out of the hospital, transitional care and anyone needing care to get back into the swing of things.

Q: Can you ensure a qualified caregiver?

A:  All caregivers go through an intensive interview process. They are required to go through a criminal background check, drug screening, references are checked and all caregivers are required to clear the State of Delaware, Delaware Health and Social Services Adult Abuse Registry. All caregivers are required to take training through our agency and are insured and bonded.

We work with you and your family to ensure that we have matched you with the caregiver that best meets your needs.

We are there for you wherever your loved one resides; nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities and even group homes.

Q: What is your policy on sick leave and vacation for the caregiver?

A: We are here for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If your caregiver calls our office to inform us that they are unable to cover their shift, we at Guava Homecare will provide you with another caregiver. The process is seamless. You do not pay a caregiver for vacation or sick leave and time off is discussed in advance of taking the case.

Q:  If my needs change can we change our schedule for the caregiver? Are you flexible with doctors appointments and any other appointment?

A:  Yes, we accommodate all your needs and any changes.  Our caregivers can transport you to any appointments.

We are flexible, able to meet your changing needs and will adjust according to your needs. We can increase or decrease based on your level of care. We will work with you and your family to ensure a smooth transition.

Q: What is the cost for services through Guava Homecare?

A:  Guava offers services that are based on your needs and the amount of care that you require. We come into your home and provide and assessment, design a care plan and make sure that all your needs are discussed. Prices are based on level of care.
